House of Deputies

The Executive Council of the Episcopal Church met in Chicago from October 15-17 at the headquarters of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). At the meeting, Executive Council approved the Episcopal Church's 2014 budget, approved spending a portion of unanticipated revenue to hire a racial justice and reconciliation officer, and passed a resolution acknowledging "with deep regret the breakdown of communication and relationship between the board of the United Thank Offering and leadership of the DFMS."  Read a summary of resolutions passed at the meeting. 

Council members also saw plans for a new cathedral in Port au Prince, Haiti and heard presentations on the project from Presiding Bishop Jefferts Schori, Diocese of Haiti Bishop;Jean Zaché Duracin, and Director of Development Elizabeth Lowell. In response, they passed a resolution reaffirming their commitment to fundraising for the project and urging Episcopalians to do the same.
