July 4th Celebrations
Enjoy this one-of-a-kind game with a packed house. The Indians players will take the field in custom-designed Stars and Stripes jerseys and Stars and Stripes Indians caps. Jerseys will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Indiana National Guard Relief Fund.
Stay after the game and enjoy not one, but two, fantastic firework shows. The Indians will entertain fans with their own show, shot from center field. Fans are also invited to stay at the ballpark to enjoy the downtown Indianapolis firework display.

SCLM Releases Excerpt of Same Gender Blessings Report

The Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music of the Episcopal Church has forwarded to the House of Bishops and the House of Deputies excerpts from its report, "I Will Bless You, and You Will Be a Blessing": Resources for Blessing Same-Gender Relationships [English/Spanish - Part 1/Spanish - Part 2].
The report, nearly three years in the making, was prepared by the SCLM in compliance 2009-C056, "Liturgies for Blessings," a resolution approved by the General Convention (GC) of the Episcopal Church in 2009 which directed the SCLM to collect and develop theological and liturgical resources for the blessing of same-gender relationships through an open process.
The report will be the subject of a discussion on the Deputy Online Forum starting Friday, March 16. The DOF is open to all deputies and first alternates who wish to comment, and the public is invited to follow the discussion in real-time.

Committee Chairs and Demographics for Deputies

Earlier this year, each deputy was asked to submit demographic data to Bonnie's office to help get a better picture of the makeup of the House of Deputies for the 77th General Convention. That information has been compiled and is available for deputies to use to educate their dioceses, and orient new deputies.

Bonnie has also released the list of Legislative Committee Chairs for the 77th General Convention. Vice-chairs and Secretaries will be appointed this week, and the full committee rosters should be complete by the end of November.
Vacancy in the Office of Vice President of the House of Deputies

The office of the Vice-President of the House of Deputies was vacated in February, 2010, when Deputy Brian Prior was consecrated as bishop of the Diocese of Minnesota. There are no provisions in the canons for filling a vacancy in this office until the first day of the next General Convention. At that time, deputies will elect a person to serve as Vice-President.
Dr. Anderson is putting forth the name of The Rev. Scott Kirby to fill that position for the 77th General Convention in 2012. Rev. Kirby has agreed not to stand for election for any office beyond the 77th GC. This will allow all those who wish to stand for election for Vice-President for the next triennium to begin on equal footing.
Rev. Kirby will serve as the Vice-President for the remainder of the triennium, and will stand for election on the first day of the 77th GC (July 5, 2012). At that time other nominations for the position may be made by any deputy, and an election will ensue.
