Hello Friends,
It’s been a little more than a month since we headed home from the 80th General Convention, and since then, I have been starting to master the behind-the-scenes details of serving as your president. Thank you for putting your trust and confidence in me. Together, we can begin to bring about the new structures, networks, and ways of leading that we envisioned together in Baltimore in the next two years. In fact, we are already getting started.
In the immediate aftermath of a General Convention, the most urgent role of the PHoD is to make appointments to committees, commissions, task forces, and other interim bodies. If you are called to serve in this way between now and General Convention in 2024, you can fill out this survey issued by the General Convention Office (GCO). The new deadline for the survey is August 19.
Because we are facing a very short two years until the next General Convention, the General Convention Office released the survey while we are still working on the list of interim bodies. As the old saying goes, we are building the plane as we fly it. Therefore, the survey asks about focus and interest areas rather than specific interim bodies. This will allow me to get a holistic sense of the respondent’s experiences within a given area. Once the list of interim bodies is finalized by the GCO, I will ensure that it is updated on the website and share that with you all. In the meantime, if you fill out the survey and express your interest in particular areas of mission and ministry, that will help me know you better and make wise and diverse appointments. Not every interim body requires its members to be deputies or alternates, so please encourage your colleagues and friends to complete the survey as well if they would like to be considered. It is impossible to appoint everyone who applies, but I am grateful to each person who does.
Being PHoD is a shared ministry, and never so much as now, when we are in what sometimes feels like a two-year sprint to the next General Convention. Over the next few weeks I will be building my team, which will include staffing the PHoD office and appointing members to my Council of Advice. After it has been finalized, I look forward to sharing the full roster of those on my Council of Advice and introducing you to the members of the PHoD office.
Thank you for all of the notes and messages that you have sent since you elected me as your president last month. I am making my way through all of them and promise to be in touch soon with answers to questions and replies to your kind invitations to visit and speak in your dioceses. In the meantime, please pray for me and know that I am praying for you as we begin our ministry together.

Ha pasado poco más de un mes desde que regresamos a casa de la 80ª Convención General, y desde entonces, he estado empezando a dominar los detalles detrás de escena relacionados con servir como su Presidenta. Gracias por confiar y tener fe en mí. Juntos, podemos comenzar a crear las nuevas estructuras, redes y formas de liderazgo que imaginamos juntos en Baltimore en los próximos dos años. De hecho, ya estamos empezando.
Inmediatamente después de una Convención General, el papel más urgente del PHoD (Presidenta Cámara de Diputados en sus siglas de ingles) es hacer nombramientos para comités, comisiones, grupos de trabajo y otros órganos provisionales. Si usted es llamado a servir de esta manera entre ahora y la Convención General en 2024, puede completar esta encuesta emitida por la Oficina de la Convención General (GCO). La nueva fecha límite para la encuesta es el 19 de agosto.
Debido a que nos enfrentamos con dos años muy cortos hasta la próxima Convención General, la Oficina de la Convención General publicó la encuesta mientras todavía estamos trabajando en la lista de órganos provisionales. Como dice el viejo refrán, estamos construyendo el avión mientras lo volamos. Por lo tanto, la encuesta pregunta sobre áreas de enfoque e interés en lugar de órganos provisionales específicos. Esto me permitirá tener una idea holística de las experiencias del encuestado dentro de un área determinada.
