In the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, I greet you from the Chapel of the Transfiguration, a place of worship in Grand Teton National Park. I find myself on the land where Shoshone, Bannock, Blackfoot, Crow, Flathead, Aaniih (Gros Ventre) french, and Pierced Nose (Nez Perce) French peoples roamed in a space of reflection and listening.
Gratitude to the Rector and people of St. John’s in Jackson, in the Diocese of Wyoming. Gratitude to Bishop Paul Gordon Chandler that I can serve this July in this space of inspiration.
My heart swells with a reverence for this spiritual home as I sit among the majestic grandeur of the towering Tetons. Themes like love, faith, and returning home stir within me as awareness grows.
We sense a cry, a longing for regeneration and gladness, when we read Psalm 80:6. “Will you not revive us again, so that your people may rejoice in you?”
It is an echo of a desire to go back home. In our hearts and throughout the Episcopal Youth Event, the theme “Regreso A Casa” resonates. But isn’t a home much more than a physical location? Perhaps it is a condition of the spiritual journey, a longing to be in union with God’s great love.
I picture the Teton Range towering strong as a perennial emblem of sturdiness and resiliency as I gaze out into the wide wilderness. Even though earthquakes and storms have shaken their foundations, they still stand, solid and gorgeous. We also experience storms like dread, doubt, loneliness, and a sense of being lost. We should keep in mind the reassuring words of Psalm 80 when facing life’s challenges: we are not alone for God revives and restores.
Like how the majestic Tetons welcome each new dawn, we are invited to herald in a “New Age of Faith” and serve as shining examples of God’s love in our world. This is a reminder of the imperative Jesus gave us in John 13:34–35 to love one another. This is a practical statement of faith rather than just an emotional mood. The recent Love Festival is an illustration of this; it affirms our shared humanity, calls us to practise compassion, and encourages us to think of one another as God’s beloved. As a result, we are refreshed, and prepared to travel into the world and spread God’s love.
The warmth and light that the sun provides as it beams on the mountains. The same is true of how God’s love transforms our hearts. Love is a tremendous power that unites us all. By sharing God’s love with others, we are pointing them in the direction of a loving connection with God, the source of all joy and love, rather than a specific location. We are revived so we can continue to win our neighbours for God!
So, let us strive to have a strong faith and be like these mountains. Let’s soar high on the winds of God’s love like the great eagle. Let’s return joyfully home to the love that rekindles our sense of health and vitality. By loving one another, let’s demonstrate to the world what this new era of faith looks like. By this, shall all know that you are my disciples, if you have love, one for another!! Hambani Kakhuhle – Go Well!!

Me imagino la cordillera de los Tetones erguida como un emblema perenne de solidez y resistencia mientras contemplo la inmensidad de la naturaleza. Aunque los terremotos y las tormentas hayan sacudido sus cimientos, siguen en pie, sólidos y magníficos. También experimentamos tormentas como el miedo, la duda, la soledad y la sensación de estar perdidos. Deberíamos recordar las tranquilizadoras palabras del Salmo 80 cuando nos enfrentamos a los retos de la vida: no estamos solos, porque Dios revive y restaura.
Al igual que los majestuosos Tetons dan la bienvenida a cada nuevo amanecer, se nos invita a anunciar una “Nueva Era de Fe” y a servir como brillantes ejemplos del amor de Dios en nuestro mundo. El amor es un poder tremendo que nos une a todos. Al compartir el amor de Dios con los demás, les estamos señalando la dirección de una conexión amorosa con Dios, la fuente de toda alegría y amor, en lugar de un lugar en específico. Nos reanimamos para poder seguir ganando más almas para Dios.
Así pues, esforcémonos por tener una fe fuerte y seamos como estas montañas. Elevémonos en los vientos del amor de Dios como la gran águila. Volvamos alegres a casa, al amor que reaviva nuestro sentido de la salud y la vitalidad. Amándonos unos a otros, demostremos al mundo cómo es esta nueva era de fe.
