Dear Deputies
As we stand at the precipice of significant transitions and retirements within our beloved House, I am reminded of the poignant words from Ecclesiastes 3:1, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” This scripture tenderly acknowledges the natural rhythm of beginnings and endings, hellos and goodbyes, that mark our journey through life.
We are gathered in a moment of holy tension, balancing the weight of grief and the lightness of relief. To our cherished officers and deputies who are retiring and transitioning this summer of 2024, gratitude for your dedication and service. Your tireless work, your wisdom, and your unwavering faith have touched countless lives. As you transition to a new chapter, we hold you in our hearts with profound gratitude and love.
Yet, in the wake of your departure, we also recognize the fresh sprouts of opportunity and new life. Ecclesiastes shows us that change is an integral part of God’s majestic tapestry. It is in these moments of transition that we find renewed purpose, invigorated spirit, and the blossoming of new leadership that will carry our church into the future.
In this time of change, let us remember the African philosophy of Ubuntu: “I am because we are.” This profound notion of interconnectedness reminds us that our individual journeys are inextricably linked to the communal journey of our church. The legacy left by our retiring officers and transitioning deputies is not merely a trail behind them but a path that runs through each of us, guiding us forward.

Estaciones de Cambio: Abrazando Nuestro Viaje Interconectado en la Cámara de Diputados
Queridos Diputados,
Al estar al borde de importantes transiciones y jubilaciones dentro de nuestra querida Cámara, me vienen a la mente las conmovedoras palabras de Eclesiastés 3:1, “Todo tiene su tiempo, y todo lo que se quiere debajo del cielo tiene su hora”. Esta escritura reconoce tiernamente el ritmo natural de comienzos y finales, saludos y despedidas, que marcan nuestro camino a través de la vida.
Nos encontramos reunidos en un momento de tensión sagrada, equilibrando el peso del duelo y la ligereza del alivio. A nuestros estimados oficiales y diputados que se jubilan y están en transición este verano de 2024, gratitud por su dedicación y servicio. Su incansable trabajo, su sabiduría y su fe inquebrantable han tocado innumerables vidas. Al pasar a un nuevo capítulo, los llevamos en nuestros corazones con profunda gratitud y amor.
Sin embargo, en la estela de su partida, también reconocemos los brotes frescos de oportunidad y nueva vida. Eclesiastés nos muestra que el cambio es una parte integral del majestuoso tapiz de Dios.
