Vice President

Steve Pankey

About the Vice President

The Rev. Steve Pankey is the 16th Vice President of the House of Deputies, elected at the 81st General Convention in Louisville, KY in 2024.

Steve is, above all else, a disciple of Jesus Christ who is committed to deep listening, compassionate leadership, and standing with those who have been forced to the margins for far too long.  He serves at the Rector of Christ Episcopal Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Steve holds an MDiv from Virginia Theological Seminary (2007) and a DMin from the School of Theology at the University of the South (2017), but his favorite degree to use is the BS he got from Millersville University.  As a disciple, a father to Eliza and Lainey, a Rector, and now VPHoD, he often struggles to keep everything in the right order and is constantly thankful for forgiveness and grace.

In his walk with Jesus, Steve has benefited from listening, being challenged, and being changed.  He hopes to pay these gifts forward in this new role as, together, we follow the Way of Jesus into an uncertain future.
